Do you need to lose weight but are sick of hearing the word “diet?” If so, the maybe Weight Watchers is the program for you. Sometimes this program is seen as a diet, but it is really more of a learning experience. You learn how to exercise and develop your willpower, you receive encouragement and accountability from group meetings and you learn about how to combine low fat nutritional foods with the right amount of exercise. Weight Watchers is a perfect program for those who need the motivation of a group to stick to reaching their weight loss goals.

Unlike many other diet programs Weight Watchers will not try to sell you their own foods and they won’t overcharge you with excessive membership fees. Joining this program will only cost around $45 to $60 per month. While this may seem expensive to some, consider that other diets such as the Jenny Craig program will charge you well over $300 a month! One of the downsides to Weight Watchers is that it can sometimes be hard to figure out their unique point’s system eating plan. They say that they have rejuvenated this system, but they have really just put a new face on their marketing plan. The eating plan is basically the same as it has been for since the program began, some years ago.

This point’s system eating plan is simply that each and every food in the plan has a point value attached to it. Dieters are allowed to eat only a certain number of points per day, but no food is completely restricted. Obviously, the more healthy foods are giving the lowest number of points so you can eat more of those foods. You may still treat yourself with things like cake, cookies and high fat foods like cheese and butter, but only in modest quantities, and the points for these foods can be rather high. When you join Weight Watchers, you are giving a copy of their eating plan which tells you the number of points in every food in the plan. However, while they cover a lot of types of food, they do not list each and every food in the world, and this can be a problem to some dieters who like to eat more exotic foods from other countries. It is possible to figure out the points in each food by yourself, but the process can get rather difficult.

Weight Watchers is a fairly good program that a great number of people are extremely loyal to it, but it is not the best choice for those who need to change their eating habits in order to lose the weight. Every body is different, and while some diets work for some people, there is no diet that works for everyone. Find the one that it right for you, and stick to it. Weight Watchers is the only major program out there that will provide you with group encouragement though!
